Synopsis

In a truly epic expansion of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, 'The Queen of the Damned' unleashes Akasha, the primordial vampire queen, who awakens from a six-thousand-year slumber with a terrifying vision for humanity's salvation. Disturbed by the modern world and disgusted by its inherent violence, Akasha embarks on a brutal crusade to eradicate the majority of the male population and establish a new, matriarchal order, believing this will usher in an era of peace. Her awakening is inadvertently triggered by Lestat, who has risen to fame as a rock star, his music piercing the ancient silence. Akasha targets Lestat, intending to make him her consort, while her devastating plan sends ripples of fear and desperation through the ancient vampire community worldwide. They are forced to unite, some reluctantly, to confront the mother of all vampires, delving into their shared, hidden history stretching back to ancient Egypt to understand and ultimately stop her world-altering agenda. The novel masterfully blends history, myth, and philosophy, exploring themes of creation, destruction, identity, and the very nature of evil within its richly sensual and electrifying narrative.
