Don't Point That Thing at Me

Synopsis

Introducing the inimitable Hon. Charlie Mortdecai, an art dealer with an aristocratic air, questionable morals, and a penchant for culinary delights, who finds his life deliciously complicated when a stolen Goya painting lands in his possession. This missing masterpiece is not only causing a diplomatic crisis between Spain and its allies but soon becomes entangled with compromising photographs of British diplomats, thrusting Mortdecai into a world far more dangerous than his usual shady transactions. As he attempts to navigate this labyrinth of international intrigue, he's pursued by various governments, shadowy secret organizations, and a captivating young German woman, all determined to get their hands on the painting or him. Relying heavily on the formidable loyalty and brawn of his manservant, Jock, Charlie must outwit his pursuers and protect the Goya – and his own skin. This hilariously dark and witty novel masterfully blends the thrilling escapades of Ian Fleming with the sophisticated absurdism of P.G. Wodehouse.

Critical Reception

"Celebrated by literary luminaries like Julian Barnes and Stephen Fry, "Don't Point That Thing at Me" is lauded for its singular blend of sharp wit, imaginative unpleasantness, and disreputable charm, establishing its place as a cult classic."
