Synopsis

Born from the ashes of Troy, Aeneas, a demigod and a survivor of its brutal sack, embarks on an arduous, divinely ordained odyssey. His destiny: to establish a new home for his people and lay the foundations of what would become the mighty Roman Empire. Guided by fate and plagued by divine wrath, his seven-year journey leads him first to Carthage, where he engages in a passionate yet doomed affair with the tragic Queen Dido, a love that leaves an indelible mark on history and mythology. Following divine commands, he abandons her, descending into the underworld to consult his father, Anchises, and glimpse the future glories of Rome. Finally reaching the shores of Italy, Aeneas must wage a brutal war against native tribes to secure his people's future. Virgil's epic is a profound exploration of duty, destiny, sacrifice, and the birth of a civilization, mirroring the grand aspirations of Augustan Rome.
