Synopsis

In "The Dark Prophecy," the second installment of Rick Riordan's Trials of Apollo series, the disgraced god Apollo, now confined to the mortal body of Lester Papadopoulos, continues his perilous quest to restore the ancient oracles and regain Zeus's favor. Following the events of "The Hidden Oracle," Apollo and his demigod companion Meg McCaffrey must journey to the American Midwest, where whispers suggest a haunted cave may hold vital clues to the next oracle. However, their path is fraught with danger, including the mind-bending perils of the cave itself and the formidable threat of a ruthless Roman Emperor whose cruelty makes even Nero seem mild. To survive this daunting challenge, Apollo must rely on the aid of unexpected allies: a mortal goddess, a loyal bronze dragon, and some familiar faces from Camp Half-Blood. As he grapples with his newfound humanity and the formidable foes arrayed against him, Apollo faces the greatest test of his four-thousand-year existence, pushing him closer to understanding what it truly means to be a hero.

Critical Reception

"This thrilling sequel further solidifies Rick Riordan's status as a master of modern mythology, delighting fans with its signature blend of humor, heart, and high-stakes adventure."
