Synopsis

Three thousand years have passed for humanity while Ender Wiggin, the notorious 'Xenocide', remains effectively ageless due to relativistic space travel. Burdened by his past actions of annihilating the Formics, Ender now travels under the pseudonym Andrew Wiggin, serving as a 'Speaker for the Dead' – one who delivers the complete, unvarnished truth about the deceased. His journey leads him to the colony planet Lusitania, home to the sentient, tree-dwelling Pequeninos, or 'Piggies', and a human colony governed by a strict xenological protocol. When two human xenologers are found gruesomely murdered in a manner that mimics Pequenino rituals, the humans fear another interspecies conflict. Ender is called to 'speak' for the dead, a task that forces him to confront the profound ethical dilemmas of first contact, cultural misunderstanding, and the deep-seated human need for forgiveness and redemption. As he delves into the complex Pequenino society, Ender uncovers truths far more intricate and devastating than anyone imagined, forcing him to risk everything to bridge the chasm between species and atone for his past.

Critical Reception
