Synopsis

Bilbo Baggins, a respectable and comfort-loving hobbit, cherishes his quiet life in Bag End, rarely venturing beyond his pantry. His peaceful existence is shattered when the enigmatic wizard Gandalf, accompanied by a company of thirteen boisterous dwarves led by the proud Thorin Oakenshield, recruits him for an audacious quest. Reluctantly, Bilbo is thrust into an epic "unexpected journey there and back again" to the distant Lonely Mountain. Their perilous mission: to reclaim the dwarves' ancestral treasure, now guarded by the fearsome and avaricious dragon, Smaug the Magnificent. Along the way, Bilbo confronts trolls, goblins, and spiders, navigates elven realms, and has a fateful encounter with the creature Gollum, from whom he acquires a peculiar, magical ring. This grand adventure forces the unassuming hobbit to unearth reserves of courage, cunning, and leadership he never knew he possessed, ultimately transforming him into an unlikely hero. J.R.R. Tolkien's enchanting tale is a timeless classic, a delightful introduction to Middle-earth, and the beloved prelude to "The Lord of the Rings."
