The Graveyard Book

Synopsis

Neil Gaiman's "The Graveyard Book" introduces readers to Nobody Owens, affectionately known as Bod, a human boy with an extraordinary upbringing. After the brutal murder of his family, the infant Bod wanders into a graveyard where he is adopted and raised by ghosts Mr. and Mrs. Owens, and protected by the mysterious guardian Silas, who is neither living nor dead. Surrounded by the antiquated customs and wisdom of the spectral inhabitants, Bod learns unique abilities like Fading, which allows him to become invisible to the living. His childhood is spent navigating the wonders and peculiarities of his spectral home, shielded from the dangers of the outside world—and from the man, Jack, who murdered his family and still hunts for him. As Bod grows, he yearns to explore the world beyond the graveyard's gates, confronting the challenges of adolescence, friendship, and the ever-present threat of his past, forcing him to choose between the safety of the dead and the unpredictable vibrancy of the living.
