Synopsis

Set in a richly imagined world reminiscent of medieval Provence, 'A Song for Arbonne' plunges into a land vibrant with troubadours, courtly love, and ancient pagan faiths, fiercely clinging to its matriarchal traditions. Blaise de Garsenc, a northern mercenary fleeing a tragic past, arrives in Arbonne, seeking employment and solace. He quickly finds himself entangled in the complex politics and cultural divides of the region. Arbonne, a land of poetry and passionate devotion to a goddess, stands in stark contrast to the aggressive, patriarchal, and monotheistic kingdom of Gorhaut to its north, which is poised to invade under the zealous leadership of its King and Archbishop. As Blaise navigates the intricate loyalties and burgeoning conflicts between powerful countesses, warrior lords, and enigmatic figures like the troubadour Bertran de Shardan, he uncovers ancient secrets and prophecies. Caught between impending war and his own quest for redemption, Blaise must choose where his loyalties lie as the clash of cultures threatens to engulf Arbonne, its art, and its very soul.
