Synopsis

Journey to the very beginning of Narnia in C. S. Lewis's enchanting prequel, "The Magician's Nephew." Ten-year-old Digory Kirke and his neighbor Polly Plummer are lured into a magical adventure by Digory's eccentric, manipulative Uncle Andrew. Through enchanted rings, they are unwittingly transported to the Wood Between the Worlds, a mystical nexus connecting countless universes. Their curiosity leads them to the dying world of Charn, where Digory, against Polly's warnings, awakens the formidable Queen Jadis by striking a magical bell. Her reawakening unleashes chaos, as Jadis follows them back to London before they finally stumble into an empty, dark world. It is there, in this nascent void, that they witness the awe-inspiring creation of Narnia by the great Lion, Aslan, whose song breathes life and stars into existence. This tale explores themes of temptation, choice, consequences, and the origins of good and evil, setting the stage for the beloved Narnian chronicles.

Critical Reception

"As the pivotal origin story of Narnia, 'The Magician's Nephew' is celebrated as a profound work of children's fantasy and a foundational pillar of modern allegorical literature."
