Thomas L. Friedman is an American political journalist and author. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he graduated from Brandeis University and received an M.Phil. in Middle East studies from St Antony's College, Oxford University. He began his career with United Press International before joining The New York Times in 1981, where he served as a Beirut bureau chief and later as Jerusalem bureau chief, winning his first two Pulitzer Prizes for his reporting from the Middle East. Friedman transitioned to writing columns on foreign affairs and globalization, becoming one of the most influential voices on these topics.
