Biography

Amy Poehler is an American actress, comedian, writer, producer, and director. Born in Newton, Massachusetts, and raised in Burlington, she developed her comedic talent at a young age, eventually moving to Chicago to study improv at The Second City and ImprovOlympic. In 1996, she co-founded the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) sketch comedy troupe, which later got its own show on Comedy Central. Poehler became a cast member on Saturday Night Live in 2001, where she quickly rose to prominence, known for her strong improvisational skills and memorable characters. After leaving SNL, she starred as Leslie Knope in the critically acclaimed sitcom Parks and Recreation (2009-2015), earning numerous awards and nominations. She has since expanded her career into directing, producing, and voice acting, authoring the best-selling memoir 'Yes Please' in 2014.
