Raymond "Ray" Kurzweil is an American author, computer scientist, inventor, and futurist. Born in Queens, New York, in 1948, Kurzweil graduated from MIT, where he studied computer science and literature. He has been involved in several successful ventures, including the development of the first flatbed scanner, the first print-to-speech reading machine for the blind, and the first text-to-speech synthesizer.
